Buntings are very similar to finches, but their colours are generally more tertiary greens, mustards and browns. They are also more rural in their habits. A few species can sometimes been seen in gardens in countryside locations. The yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella), the corn bunting (Emberiza calandra), reed bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) and the cirl bunting (Emberiza cirlus) are all typical buntings. In the winter months these birds roam different habitats in search of food, including gardens.

Although rather dull in appearance, the house sparrow is often noticed because it has a noisy chirping call. Melvin Yap
